Sergey Romanov, Deputy Director General of the Russian Energy Agency (REA), Ministry of Energy

Sergey Mikhailovich Romanov has been Deputy General Director of the Russian Energy Agency since January 16, 2023.

He graduated with honors from Moscow State Mining University with a degree in Economics and Management at Mining and Exploration Enterprises, holds a PhD in Economics, as well as the academic title of Professor at the Department of Management in the Mining Industry.

Prior to his appointment to the new position, Romanov worked for 9 years as Deputy Director of the Department of State Energy Policy of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, where he oversaw the development and monitoring of industry strategic and program documents, long-term forecasts for the fuel and energy complex development, provided a consolidated function of the department in terms of regional energy development, import substitution and innovative development, as well as the development of hydrogen energy and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
