The Minutes of the Academic Council meeting dated 21.12.2021
The first meeting of the new Academic Council of the Institute for Energy and Finance, selected in 2021, was held on December 21, 2021 by webinar.
The main report was presented by Abel G. Aganbegyan, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the topic "Socio-economic situation and prospects for Russia’s development”. The speaker gave a comprehensive analysis of a wide range of the Russian economy problems, that have developed by the current period.
The presentation aroused great interest and lively discussion among the participants of the meeting. The discussion covered such issues as whether Russia needs a loose monetary policy and a tight fiscal policy, or the opposite; additional mechanisms for financing government spending; whether a planned economy is needed and what it should be like; what the prospects are for the Russian economy in light of the energy transition; opportunities to increase the population’s income; mechanisms for keeping capital within the country; whether assessing projects solely from the perspective of economic parameters is sufficient, and so on.
