Sergey Kondratiev, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to the Russia 24 TV channel on the construction of the Akkuyu NPP in Turkey.

The construction of the country's first nuclear power plant began in 2018 according to a Russian project, it provides for 4 power units with a total capacity of almost 5 thousand megawatts.
“Probably, the unusual nature of this project is that really funds are mainly attracted by Rosatom. So far, the volume of financing and utilized investments in the project is not very large, because the first power unit is planned to be commissioned in 2023, and usually the last two to three years before putting the power unit into operation are considered to be a peak of capital investment development," Sergei Kondratiev said.
Of course, Akkuyu is not Rosatom's only overseas project. Moreover, Russia today ranks first in the world in the construction of foreign nuclear power plants. 35 power units are at various stages of implementation in countries such as Finland, Hungary, Egypt, India, as well as Bangladesh and China.

Rosatom's portfolio of orders for a ten-year period is more than $ 140 billion. According to experts, this is more than the order books of all Western competitors combined.
