Since its foundation, the Institute has been an active participant of the Energy Dialogue of Russia with many foreign countries and organizations: the European Union, Germany, China, Saudi Arabia, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the International Energy Agency, etc., in close coordination with the Ministry of Energy of Russia, Gazprom Export and Rosneft.

The cooperation of the Institute with Chinese colleagues is actively developing, first of all, with the CNPC Economics and Technology Research Institute. The official partner of FIEF is the leading research institute of Saudi Arabia — King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC).
FIEF has established reliable contacts with the management and experts of OPEC, IEA, GECF, IEF and regular takes part in international symposia and seminars held by them.
Since 2018, on the initiative of FIEF, the International Expert and Analytical Platform «Energy Initiatives» has been created and continues to be actively developed, with participation of many leading international oil and gas companies, banks and scientific organizations.
