Since its establishment, the Institute has been an active and significant participant in the EU-Russia Energy Dialogue, especially in the gas sector. In 2011–2014 the FIEF employees played a key role in formation and development of the Gas Advisory Council (GAC) under the coordinators of the Russia-EU Energy Dialogue, as well as in elaboration of the Roadmap for energy cooperation between Russia and the EU for the period up to 2050.
After freezing of the Energy Dialogue in 2014 at the EU initiative, FIEF continues to be a permanent member of the only regularly operating platform within the framework of the Energy Dialogue — Working Group 2 «Internal Markets» of the GAG
