Alexey Gromov, Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented on the Business FM radio station regarding Poland's appeal to Gazprom with a request to reduce the gas price.
Poland asked Russia to lower gas prices. Warsaw has had a contract with Gazprom since the 1990s. The request is related to high energy prices in Europe. However, Poland had already sued Gazprom over the cost of fuel, and even won in court.
Alexey Gromov believes: “The situation with Poland is just the first sign of a series of similar appeals, which, I think, will soon come from many European countries with which Gazprom has long-term contracts for the supply of gas. The abnormally high gas price on the European spot will in any case affect the prices of Russian long-term contracts - to a greater or lesser extent and with a certain time lag”.
