Alexey Belogoryev, Deputy Principal Director on Energy Studies of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented jointly to RIA Novosti and the Prime Economic Information Agency on the prospective balance in the European gas market in 2023.
The European Union is likely to complete the heating season with almost half-full underground gas storage facilities (UGS), by the end of March their occupancy may be 50-55%, Alexey Belogoryev told RIA Novosti.
"By the end of the heating period (conditionally by March 31), 44% to 60% of reserves will remain in the EU UGS, depending on the intensity of taking in the remaining six weeks. The range of 50-55% looks most likely now, compared with 26.3% in 2022," the expert believes.
