Analysts have predicted how the level of the OPEC+ oil production will change

03 January 2026

Belogoryev Alexey M. Research and Development Director, Director of the Center for Energy strategic analysis and forecasting

Alexey Belogoryev, Research and Development Director of the Institute for Energy and Finance, commented to RIA Novosti and the Prime news agency on the OPEC+'s policy on the global oil market in 2025 and its possible changes in 2026.

So far, there are no signs that the OPEC+ strategy has changed, Alexey Belogoryev believes.

"The conditional price "war" that OPEC+ is consciously waging cannot be effective within a few months, it requires at least one and a half to two years of constant maintenance of relatively low prices (about 50-55 dollars per barrel). Therefore, if OPEC+ has already embarked on this path, it is unlikely that it will leave it before 2027," he notes.

And when he was asked how much the OPEC+ production could increase in 2026, he said that "in the range of 0.5 to 1.2 million barrels per day relative to the December”.
