Dr. Nadejda Komendantova, Leader of the Cooperation and Transformative Governance Research Group of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA)

The research interests of Dr. Nadejda Komendantova include multi-risk governance and protection of critical energy infrastructure from existing and emerging risks, such as natural hazards and cyber threats. This includes institutional landscape but also behavioral economics of how various stakeholders perceive risks and make decisions on risk mitigation strategies.

She was responsible for the work package on multi-risk governance within the FP7 project "New Multi-Risk and Multi-Hazard Assessment Methods for Europe" (Matrix) and she is currently responsible for H2020 project "Co-Inform" on artificial intelligence tools to deal with cyber threats.

On the topic of protection of critical energy infrastructure from various risks, she is the author of the Handbook on Protection of Electricity Networks from Natural Hazards for OSCE, contributing author to the Global Risk Assessment Report, author of the chapters on risk governance for the Global Report issues by the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery of the World Bank and of input papers for the United Nation Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). She also published papers in peer-reviewed journals such as Natural Hazards, Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, Risk Analysis, Renewable and Sustainable Energies Reviews, Energy Policy and others.
